The Joint Collaboration Services (JCS) SDK is a Java and CORBA-based toolkit for building tailored collaborative environments. It can support a wide variety of policy and user experiences by defining the basic building blocks for these environments.
- Contexts are abstract metaphor-neutral collections of participants, conversations, and things that serve to factor the total collaborative activity of the system into useful, comprehensible parts.
- Participants represent users (human or software agents) of the environment.
- Roles are social cues that indicate a participant's responsibilities.
- A Conference is a shared, multi-participant session, used by participants to communicate with each other within the virtual environment and for applications to share data.
The software is available under an open source license.
